La Soñada · Contemporary Future
In 2016, luthier Carlos González created La Soñada for Christian Lavernier, an 11-string extended-range guitar conceived and built specifically for him.
The instrument marked the beginning of a new phase in Lavernier’s artistic research, devoted to exploring new timbral possibilities and creating an original contemporary repertoire.
Since 2018, La Soñada has been at the heart of Contemporary Future, bringing together works written for the instrument and dedicated to Lavernier by Italian and international composers.
His collaboration with Nicola Campogrande led to the version for La Soñada of the 12 Preludi a getto d’inchiostro, published by Universal Music – Ricordi with revision and fingerings by Christian Lavernier.
Universal Music – Ricordi also published Azio Corghi’s Redobles y Consonancias, dedicated to Lavernier and La Soñada, with revision and fingerings by Lavernier.
Leo Brouwer reimagined Habanera Trunca for Christian Lavernier and La Soñada, expressly dedicating the new version to Lavernier. The work is published by Edición Espiral Eterna. Alessandro Solbiati dedicated Six fois onze to Lavernier and La Soñada, published by Suvini Zerboni.
In 2019, Christian Lavernier released Contemporary Future, produced by EMA Vinci, under the patronage of SIMC and CIDIM and as part of the SIAE “Classici di oggi” series. The album features music by Azio Corghi, Andrea Talmelli, Corrado Rojac and Nicola Campogrande, and its booklet is introduced by Ennio Morricone, Azio Corghi, Andrea Talmelli and Carlos González.
Platero y Yo
Since 2016, Christian Lavernier has performed Platero y Yo, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s melodrama based on the text by Juan Ramón Jiménez, together with Italian actor Ugo Dighero.
The project also exists in a Spanish-language version with actor Ximo Solano, returning Juan Ramón Jiménez’s text to its original language.
In 2023, Platero y Yo was released as a recording featuring Ugo Dighero as narrator, with a preface by Diana Castelnuovo-Tedesco. The project exists in two recorded versions: guitar with narration, following the original conception of the work, and guitar alone.
Wolf 1069
In 2023, Lavernier’s collaboration with composer Jacopo Baboni Schilingi led to the creation of Wolf 1069, a project bringing together the acoustic world of La Soñada with generativity, interactivity, sensors and artificial intelligence.
The world premiere took place on 4 October 2024 at the Imperial Forums in Rome. Wolf 1069 is a metamorphic and continuously evolving project bringing together acoustic performance, composition and digital technologies.
Disolución de un cuerpo 230 · Tarquim
Christian Lavernier collaborates with Spanish actor Ximo Solano on Disolución de un cuerpo 230 – Tarquim, a multidisciplinary project in which music, text and performance engage with memory, absence and collective trauma.
The work takes as its point of departure the 230 bodies found after the DANA that devastated Valencia. The number is not treated as a symbol or abstraction, but as the concrete trace of individual lives and interrupted stories.
Tarquim — the smell of mud and decay — becomes a persistent sensory trace of catastrophe. Solano’s text and Lavernier’s music inhabit this space without spectacle or consolation, creating a dialogue between the individual and collective body, memory and absence.
