TRIBUTE TO MARIO CASTELNUOVO-TEDESCO

“AN ITALIAN IN BEVERLY HILLS”

In the twentieth century an Italian marks the history of classical and modern music. That Italian was Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. Born in Florence on April 3, 1895, he moved to Beverly Hills in 1939 to escape the racial laws. From here he will continue to write works that made him famous all over the world, especially for the classical guitar repertoire. At the same time, he signs the soundtracks of holliwoodian masterpieces and he trained up composers who have made the history of cinema, one above all John Williams.

Fifty years after his death, a new project celebrates its greatness through one of his most inspired works. A selection from Op.190 (1960) is reproposed in his Segovian guise (solo instrument), accompanied by poetic references to the work of Juan Ramon Jimènez.
